Projects in the works

Projects and more projects. There are so many and not enough time to get them all done. I thought you would like to see some of the things I am working on. This is a quilt that I designed for Riley Blake Designs called Picnic. It is a free download here. This is the fabulous fabric of The Quilted Fish called Sugar and Spice. The color combination is fabulous. It makes up into the cutest projects. Here it is again in my Snowflake Skirt pattern. Aren't the greens and pinks gorgeous? You can see a piece of Riley Blake Designs designer ribbon that matches Sugar and Spice on our large pearl buttons that are now available in local stores. My pattern line is called Butterfly Kisses. This is Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet's fabric line called Sew Cherry. This is my Butterfly Kisses pattern called Sunny Dress. It works up very quickly and look how cute it is in Sew Cherry. The following fabric line is Sweet Nothings by Zoe Pearn Designs. This is my Butterfly Kisses line called Olivia Skirt. …

Trunk Show in Draper

This is Connie Atkinson and Amanda of The Quilted Fish. Connie belongs to a wonderful group and invited Cindy and I to do a trunk show. At the beginning of the evening Connie presented Amanda with a beautiful quilt from her new line Sugar and Spice with Riley Blake Designs. As you can see she is so shocked at the generosity of such a beautiful gift.
Look at how fabulous this quilt is! Connie her sweet friend did all the work on this quilt and the group donated the fabric top and Riley Blake Designs donated the back.
She looks great wrapped in her beautiful Sugar and Spice quilt. What a treasure.
The following are a few of the show and tells from this wonderful group. I love the bright colors in this quilt against the black.
This is such a fun quilt. Raw edge flowers on a solid white background. A dramatic effect.
This is a beautiful quilt that a lady made for her daughters wedding. It is gorgeous.
I had to take a picture of this one because it is our first fabric line by My Mind's Eye c…

All Dolled Up in Salt Lake City

All Dolled Up in Salt Lake City was the brilliant demise of Amanda Herring of The Quilted Fish. The idea is to bring more traffic flow to the designers booth during quilt market and of course to  make new friends.
Each designer was given a doll template and then given the freedom to dress the doll however they wanted. Each block is unique to each designer. This quilt is going to be charming and coveted by all who appreciate the art of quilting. I themed my block  " I wish, I wish, for a happily ever after" I think it is every girls dream. Of course, she is wearing a crown and waving her wand and making wishes come true. The cake is part of her dreaming because we all want to eat an endless supply of cake and never gain weight. You will be able to see the quilt displayed in the Riley Blake Design booth at this spring market at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, Utah. We have created a wonderful space for the quilt. This will really put you in the mood to quilt.

Sweet Nothings

This is a collection called Sweet Nothings by Zoe Pearn who lives in Australia. We love her work. Her colors and designs are always spectacular.  Chris Orton pieced this quilt. Her work is perfection. I designed the quilt with 10" squares in mind and also kept it very simple for the beginner sewer.Using pre-cuts can save you a lot of cutting time. Connie Atkinson quilted it yesterday and I finished it by binding it last night so we could show it at the warehouse.
You can download this free pattern from Riley Blake Designs free project sheet.

So many new projects and March Quilt Group

Here are some fun blocks that I started working on when I was in Bryce Canyon at Ruby's Inn. It was a class I took from Leslie and Norma called Summer Days. This is the block. They are half square triangles pieced together. The circle is appliqu├ęd in the center.Super fun! Super easy!
This is another block that I am doing from Two Peas in a Pod. The quilt is called Swirls. They are paper pieced. Each square is different. The four blocks are pieced together to create the block.. There is a one inch post running through all the blocks.
A quick look at the Penny Lane collection from My Mind's Eye for Riley Blake Designs. This is the free pattern I designed for Riley Blake. You can download the pattern here for free.
This is a look at the Wanna Be A cowboy 2 collection from Samantha Walker for Riley Blake Designs and you can find the pattern here.

Ruby's Inn, Bryce Canyon Retreat

Bonnie Miles does a fabulous retreat down in Bryce Canyon at a place called Ruby's Inn. You cannot believe how organized and wonderful the ladies are at this retreat. I've never gone and stayed over night at a retreat and sewn for days on end but if you ever get the chance you should check this one out. The scenery is beautiful and it is just a treat to rub shoulders with some of the most talented women.
Downstairs in the conference room where the trunk shows were held, were stores. Fabric, books, notions, patterns, soaps and chocolate. What more could a girl want. One of my favorite people I caught buying some wool, Paula McKinlay. She is one of my fellow quilters that I have quilted with for over 20 years.
Everyday there were trunk shows and show and tell at noon and then again at night. It was like a never ending cruise ship with non stop entertainment, only it was women quilting. I can't possibly begin to remember the people who made all these fabulous quilts but they sh…
