Spelling Bee Sew Along

Yahoo! It's my turn on the Saturday Spelling Bee with  Fat Quarter Shop and Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet!

If you have been following along you have seen so many wonderful projects with the alphabet letters from the Spelling Bee Book.

My letter today is the small letter "v"

"v" stands for violet, virginia, violin and vivacious!

This is my go to pattern for gifts...a cute cosmetic bag!

I placed the "v" block in the middle of the cosmetic bag front.

The tassle is made from a whole embroidery floss strand... a few beads on the end and you have a pull for  your zipper.

In The Meadow Blog Tour

I’m so excited to be playing with Shari Butler’s
new fabric line called
In The Meadow for Sweet Bee Designs!!!

These fabrics are so fresh and happy.  The colors are bright and inspire sewing fun for days on end...
I decided to make this fun quilt using 4 blocks  measuring 12 1/2" unfinished.

I cut 2 1/2" strips and then cut those  into 2 1/2" squares... the block center is 16 squares sewn  together to create a 16-patch.

The outside edge that creates the star points are made up of  16 half square triangles and 4 squares for the corners... all measure 2 1/2" square unfinished.
The border uses the left over 2 1/2"squares.

I love putting black and white with bright colors.  It pops the colors and makes everything grounded and cohesive.
The sashing is where I added the 1 1/2" black squares.  Where the corners meet it creates a black and white nine-patch.
