Trish and Birdie Fabric Tour

I'm so excited to be the first stop on Deane Beesley's
"Trish and Birdie Fabric Tour!

This is the sweetest fabric line with beautiful
navy blues, whimsical greens,
yummy oranges, soft pinks and pastel yellows...

I've been wanting to make this paper pieced rose for a while...
every time I see this rose I just love it!
You can find the free pattern at Jitka Design Inc.

This is a paper pieced pattern...Jitka Clement
has a wonderful tutorial showing how she
sews the rose pieces together.

So as I continued to play with these fun prints I wanted to make a fabric basket also.
I thought it would be a fun place to store fabrics.
***
The center block is a 6" square. The strips are cut 2".

I used the quilt as you go method to create the outside pieces for this fabric basket.

The method of quilt as you go is just that...
you sew a piece onto your batting and
then stitch every 1/4"...giving you a finished
quilted product.

I did some echo quilting around the rose and then
added the 1" blocks to create a scrappy border.

I washed this when I was finished so it gets that
wrinkly, worn look where the fabric sinks into it's stitches...

Echo quilting creates some fun texture and dimension
to a quilt block...I also did some in
the ditch quilting to the 1" scrappy border.

The navy blue solid helped pop the printed fabric designs and gives the eye a place to rest...

You can enjoy seeing the whole
Trish and Birdie Fabric collection

I loved playing with this fun color palette...
the colors work so well together.

August That Alpine Quilt Group

August has come and gone. Here are the  pictures of That Alpine Quilt Group show and tell and then quilts by Konda who owns http://www.moosequilts.com/
I hope you enjoy all the fabulous quilts.

Love the red and yellow.

This is the million dollar quilt. Each block represents the story behind a letter from her son who served a 2 year mission. Don't you think that is such a great idea. I love it.

I love all the hand embroidery on this quilt. It will be a classic.

This was a block exchange quilt. She did a great job of her colors and arranging of blocks. I think this quilt turned out great.

Farm Girl Vintage "Woolly Sheep"

Woolly Sheep is the last block on the  Farm Girl Vintage Friday Blog Hop Sew-Along.

It has been sew much fun sewing along  with Lori Holt, Fat Quarter Shop and all of you every Friday.

I have a pile of super cute Farm Girl Blocks that I can't wait to start piecing together to make a fabulous quilt.

I wanted my sheep to be white so I used low volume fabrics...I'm going to add some embroidery around the edge of the sheep to help the outline pop.

My Woolly Sheep and I  took a little field trip to Birdseye, Utah.  My sister-in-law and her husband  live on a ranch... It was the perfect spot for some  Farm Girl Vintage photos.

Don't you love this old farm truck!

The setting was a beautiful, peaceful, tranquil day.

We were able to take these photos with the perfect backdrop for Woolly Sheep.

Farm Girl Vintage features 45 different quilt blocks  in 6″ and 12″ sizes.  There are bonus projects and quilts galore.  The instructions are visual and easy to read and understand.   There are so …

In The Meadow Blog Tour

I’m so excited to be playing with Shari Butler’s
new fabric line called
In The Meadow for Sweet Bee Designs!!!

These fabrics are so fresh and happy.  The colors are bright and inspire sewing fun for days on end...
I decided to make this fun quilt using 4 blocks  measuring 12 1/2" unfinished.

I cut 2 1/2" strips and then cut those  into 2 1/2" squares... the block center is 16 squares sewn  together to create a 16-patch.

The outside edge that creates the star points are made up of  16 half square triangles and 4 squares for the corners... all measure 2 1/2" square unfinished.
The border uses the left over 2 1/2"squares.

I love putting black and white with bright colors.  It pops the colors and makes everything grounded and cohesive.
The sashing is where I added the 1 1/2" black squares.  Where the corners meet it creates a black and white nine-patch.
